It’s more than likely that you haven’t heard of it yet, but Lowe’s Marketplace is an ultra-new eCommerce 3P marketplace, which will help small and large businesses gain major exposure by teaming up with one of the world’s largest home improvement retailers in coming years.
To get you up to speed, Lowe’s is the second-largest hardware chain in the United States – and also second-largest in the world. With headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina, they specialize in home improvement products and currently operate 1,748 stores in the U.S. alone.
During an investor conference held in December, Lowe’s CEO emphasized the company’s positive growth. “By leveraging technology solutions, we’re creating a best-in-class omnichannel shopping experience for all generations of homeowners.” said Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s chairman, president and CEO.
Lowe’s plans to work with both new sellers and existing suppliers to populate its new marketplace, and will include products at a range of price points that are designed to appeal to both value-oriented and affluent customers.
The new online offering will allow the company to have a wider selection of products without having to carry the inventory, manage pricing, or invest in new online fulfillment centers.

More About Lowe’s Seller Account
Similar to vendor accounts on platforms like Amazon, Lowe’s seller accounts are more flexible in terms of uploading listings, pricing control, and advertising strategies.
“Lowe’s 3P sellers will have more options to list products in different categories and are able to set their own pricing,” says Lee. “Similar to Amazon Seller Central and Target Plus, they will have plenty of freedom. And that’s good news!”

Is the Lowe’s Marketplace open to just anyone?
No. Since Lowe’s Marketplace is focussed on home improvement, they will carefully vet and select sellers to ensure that products are aligned with their brand and strategy.
Will Lowe’s Marketplace products be mixed in with Lowe’s existing assortment?
Yes. However, Lowe’s Marketplace products will clearly be labelled as “sold and shipped by a third-party seller”.
Can existing Lowe’s vendors be sellers on Lowe’s Marketplace?
Yes. Existing Lowe’s vendors can be sellers on Lowe’s Marketplace if selected to participate and if the chosen products aren’t duplicates of their existing assortment.
