Suspended Amazon accounts is a red sign for your business. It means you won’t be able to get back to your day-to-day Amazon sales.
Amazon always suspends seller central accounts after the hot season with any reason. This happens a lot during each second quarter of the year.
To ensure the healthy environment in the Amazon marketplace, Amazon will also keep a good balance of the correct number of both the sellers and buyers into the most ultimate ratio by taking out Amazon seller accounts for any reason they find.
Over the years, Amazon Vendor Central accounts are hardly getting suspended until this year. From the start of March, like Seller Central accounts, there have been many suspensions happening to Vendor Central sellers too, especially the ones which no longer have a vendor manager assigned to them.
The appeal process on Amazon Vendor Central accounts is different from the ones on Seller Central accounts. Here, as a consultant, I am explaining how to reinstate Vendor Central accounts according to our experiences of reinstating them for years.
How To Reactivate An Amazon Vendor Account
One of the most challenging aspects of an Amazon account suspension is the uncertainty surrounding the reinstatement process. Whether your account was recently suspended or suspended years ago, appealing the decision can be complex, especially for the Vendor Central accounts.
Definitely, you need to start with the root cause of your suspended Amazon account. Study how would happen and prepare necessary actions and documentation for the appeal process.
Well, contacting 24-hour Amazon customer service won’t work for suspension vendor accounts, as we will always get some automatic machine reply with no actual help. They won’t get you any solution at all. Unlike Seller Central account submitting via appeal link on the suspension email, reactivating your Vendor Central account requires you to contact your vendor managers.
Vendor managers usually helps vendors on writing & submitting a professional appeal for their accounts after you’ve understood the reason for your suspension. Once you know the problem, it’s possible to approach the solution. It’s the same for recovering deactivated Amazon seller account.
First of all, along a concise appeal letter, you need to have necessary information & documents ready, proving your identity as the true owner of the accounts. These information & documents include:
1) Vendor codes (usually 5- or 6-digit containing characters or numbers);
2) Business license (US or foreign) matching the vendor account;
3) Utility bills matching the business license;
4) Copy of the original email of “Notification of Suspension” from Amazon.
To reinstate your Amazon vendor account, a well-written appeal that clearly states your intent of writing, the likely suspension cause, and how you intend to take corrective measures in the long term. Also, you can choose to write your appeal letter yourself or hire a professional, like Masei & Ryland, to craft it.
In your appeal letter, you will justify why your account ought to be reinstated and why you ought to go on doing business on the marketplace.
What determine if the Vendor Central accounts get reinstated or not?
We do not know exactly what Amazon officials in the appeal and legal department are thinking. However, according to what I have experienced so far on appeal of vendor accounts, the factors that affect the success rate of appeal cases for vendor accounts. It involves a complicated process & considerations.
1) Past Performance & Sales History;
2) Net PPM;
3) Root Cause of Suspension
Performance in the past may be the first factor that Amazon will put it in the first consideration. If Amazon sees that the vendor accounts could bring ten million of sales per year, they are more interested in helping and reinstating them. Think about it. If your vendor accounts has no or low sales records in the past, why would they spend their previous time on reinstating them for nothing?
There is another consideration concerning Net PPM (Pure Profit Margin) when examining the deactivated vendor accounts. What is Net PPM? It is a measurement of how much vendor accounts bring profits to Amazon. Would you think Amazon would lose money on doing business with you. (For more details of calculating Net PPM, please go back to our previous articles for a better understanding about it)
The current healthy rate of Net PPM stays on 40% or above. If going beyond this healthy rate, it is unlikely to get the vendor accounts get reactivated. Amazon wants to ensure that they bring back the accounts, which can also bring them good things like profits & reputation.
Finally, carefully review the email or notification from Amazon that outlines the reason(s) for your account suspension. Understanding the cause of violations is crucial before taking action on your appeal case. Well, if the vendor account involves serious offense like selling counterfeits & imitation items, they may be unlikely to get reactivated. The success rate of appeal would depend how bad your suspension reasons are. It all depends on each case, each situation, and the person who takes the case, when investigating the vendor accounts.
