With more than 1,931 retail stores across all 50 states, Target is one of the nation’s largest big-box chains, known for its popular RedCard program. In February 2019, Target joined the ecommerce space by starting Target Plus & Target DVS (Direct Vendor Ship), allowing third party sellers to sell on Target marketplace.
Well, unlike other marketplaces such as Amazon, Walmart, & eBay, the Target marketplace is an exclusive, invite-only online marketplace that only caters to third-party retailers, meaning that Target Plus & Target DVS only partners with selected third-party retailers.
What is the difference between Target Plus & DVS?
It is much similar to Amazon Vendor Central accounts as the 1st party seller, while Target Plus is much like Seller Central as the 3rd party seller. Both of them are invite-only platforms in higher brand principles.
Choosing Target DVS (Direct Vendor Ship) means Target buys your products from you, then resells them to their customers. With Target Plus, you are selling your products directly to customers, through the Target marketplace.

Target Plus & DVS enables partners, which could include brands, authorized resellers, or manufacturers, to sell directly on Target.com via an e-commerce marketplace model. Again, both of them focuses on invite-only partnerships, brand principles and an elevated digital experience.
